Good Music Month!

There's been a lot of good music around recently, and I think one of the best albums that has been released is the surprise which was the NEW BEYONCE ALBUM (!!!!!!!!)

Beyoncé released this album, as a complete surprise, with no promotion at all, and literally sent all her fans (me included) into a frenzy.

I absolutely love this album, it's the best she's ever released, and I literally love every song! It's much different from anything she's ever released, but still, of course, amazing!

My favourite songs are : Flawless, Drunk In Love, Mine and Haunted! Oh and Partition! And Pretty Hurts.... Pretty much all of them....

Do you like her album too? What's your favourite song(s)? What songs/albums have you been loving this month?

A Lush Bath

Hmmm, I love a winter bath! Just thought I would do a small post on the bath bomb I used from Lush!
It's called Candy Mountain and it smells delicious! If you haven't smelled it already, it smells very similar to the popular Lush shower gel called 'Snow Fairy', and if you haven't smelled Snow Fairy, it basically smells of bubblegum and happiness!

As you guessed from the name- it looks like mountain! And it's a lovely pink and white colour! Very candy like- yum!

AND IT TURNS YOUR WATER PINK!!!!

This is such a lovely bath bomb! It smells absolutely delicious and you come out your bath smelling of it all evening/day!

What's your favourite bath bomb?

How to: Get Smooth, Styled Hair, With And Without Heat!

(A pre-warning, get a lovely cup of tea, or a beverage of your preference, a nice snack, and relax, because this is a LONG post!)

It always a constant battle that we have to fight : How to I style my hair, with heat - whether that be with just a hair dryer, or straighteners, curlers or all three! - but still keep my soft and not looking like straw? It's a toughie, but I think I have found some products and methods that can at least help to keep that damage at bay!

Now I know a lot of people's answer to this question is- Well just don't use heat? But some people who perhaps have thick hair, curly hair, thin hair, frizzy hair etc whilst still using a few non-heat methods, do still need to, or feel more comfortable, using a hair dryer or a pair of straighteners to tame that darn frizz!

I have very curly, long, sometimes frizzy hair, so it's safe to say that I have had my fair share of figuring out ways to keep my my hair soft, shiny and smooth with out the damage that sometimes comes with it! Now that doesn't just mean that the methods I write are only aimed at curly-haired people! I think these methods will work for anyone with one of the hair types mentioned above!

Phew, that was a long introduction- so anyway!

So! I have devised a list of methods for each option : Non-heat methods, and Heat methods! For each method I'll choose a tool and product(s) which are good for it!

Let's start with the Heat methods:

         1- Tool: Diffuser

Why? Diffusers are good for curly hair because they control the amount of air that comes out the hair dryer and the speed at which it comes out, this means that your hair will be less frizzy at the end because it hasn't been blown around to vigorously! It also allows you to scrunch your hair, which means you get more defined curls- with less frizz.

Products:  Garnier's Hair Oil - I purchased this in Germany, and I don't actually think this is available in the UK, so I also like to use the L'Oreal Paris, Elvive Extraordinary Oil which is available in the UK! Hair oil's smooth the hair and help to repair any damage that may have already occurred, I put mine on when my hair is damp, and if it needs that extra bit of smoothing, after drying it too!
Trevor Sorbie Beautifully Straightened Smoothing Balm- Even though this products is most likely designed to be used on hair that's going to be straightened, I think it's great to use just for blow-drying as well, because the ingredients are designed to prepare the hair for straightening it keeps the frizz at bay and smooths the hair!

       2- Tool: Round Brush

Why? This tool helps to create volute at the roots of your hair and also smooth it out. It's best used on small - medium sized sections of hair, start at the roots and lift it upwards whilst focusing the heat of the hair dryer onto that particular section!

Products: Umberto Giannini Volume Blow Dry Spray: I love this product! It creates really nice volume when sprayed into damp hair at the roots and body of the hair!
Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray OR Aussie Take That Heat Balm: Both of these are absolutely brilliant heat protectors! I think even though heat protection is necessary for all styles, this one especially requires it because the heat is much more concentrated on your hair than, say, just blow-drying it! Both also help to smooth and de-frizz hair (especially the Aussie product!).
L'Oreal Elnette Hairspray: There are quite a few variations of the Elnette hair sprays, and I'm sure all of them are brilliant! The ones I usually use are the Volume one and the Flexible Hold product! It's important to hair spray this style after to keep your do' in place all day, keep it smooth, and minimise frizz!

3- Tool: A Curling Wand, The Babyliss Pro Curling Wand is very good OR  a heated roller set The Babyliss Heated Roller Set is also very good! This method of styling is great for curl and straight hair! For straight hair it great to add some body to hair, and if you fancy having some tight ringlets you can curl small, frequent strands of hair, whereas if you're after loose waves just take bigger sections! For us curly-haired girls, they're great for just defining those curls that go a little flat or frizzy overnight!
Another tool that is brilliant for when you curl your hair, is a natural bristle brush, ever wonder how celebrities get their hair to look like this?

Quite often is it by either curling the hair with a wand or rollers, then brushing it through with a bristle brush (and a whole lot of skill). I'd say this type of brush is still great to use on curly or frizzy haired people, because is smooths it, as opposed to making it static. I can use it on my hair, and it usually just goes puffy when I brush it!

                                           Products: A hair Oil (again)
.... And of course HEAT PROTECTIOOOONNN (Again!)
Another product which is also great is the Umberto Giannini Curl Friends Natural Curls Styling Spray, this is great to create that natural curl in your hair before you blow dry it, and it will also help to hold the curl for longer in the day!

Okay! So that's the heat methods! Now onto the heat-free methods!

  1.  Tool: First up is my recent discovery and thus, obsession! I discovered this beauty one day while walking through the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, when I was stopped by a lady at one of shop-stands which was called 'Aria Beauty', she told me about this hair curler (the 19mm Curling Wand) that used Negative ion technology and far-infared heat, this basically means - NO HEAT DAMAGE (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Or very little (basically none!) Now I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous, but I can vouch for this, when you use this curler on your hair, it actually feels smoother and softer after you've used it, like seriously, I have used this for about a week now, not long I know (I'll do an update in a few weeks time), and my hair is in great condition. Can we also talk about the fact that it literally takes seconds to curl all your hair, like seriously, by the time you have finished wrapping your hair around the barrel, you take it off and you have the most amazing ringlet EVER. AND the curls stay in place all day, and I know a lot of brands claim this, many a time have I thought "Oh great!", only to find that curls have gone by the end of the day, but this doesn't happen with the Aria Curling Wand, even in RAIN (which would usually end in a frizzy, puffy disaster for me) they lasted perfectly fine! So basically, this curler is perfect.
This curler, is of course perfect for both curly and straight hair! I use it on my curly hair to define my curls and smooth them, as well as make them last longer!

Products: Even though the risk of heat damage is minimal, I still like to use protectant! Just for that comfort! Really, now I don't really use anything else on my hair, I don't even blow-dry it any more, I simply wait for it to dry naturally, use a little bit of hair-oil, and then spray my hair with with the heat-protectant, and voila! On with the curling! And perhaps a bit of hair-spray to hold the curls in place! I like to do this the night before and sleep on the curls over night!

Get the Aria Beauty Curling Wand here: http://www.ariabeauty.com/, or here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=aria+beauty&tag=googhydr-21&index=drugstore&hvadid=25771389536&hvpos=1t2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2135329852131861187&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_6oin3ht8j0_e Aria does a range of styling products all using the same heat-technology! Wooopppee! The straighteners are AMAZING too! Just everything is....

  2. Second is a way of getting some nice smooth waves in your hair over night!
Tool: A hair-band, and possible another pair of hands.... This method is quite basic! It's a plait! If you like to get some nice waves in your hair, without the heat, then a really good way of getting those heat-free waves, is by plaiting your hair over night! For curly hair, I would recommend plaiting your hair in a tight, normal plait, however for straight hair, I would recommend plaiting it in a French-braid (it will help to curl it more). If you have straight hair, you can put your hair in a French-braid either dry or wet, but if you have curly hair I would recommend plaiting dry hair.

Products: A good spray to use after letting the plait set is the VO5 Give Me Texture Dry Texturing Spray, OR the Schwarzkopf Got2b Beach Matt Salt Spray, to get that nice just-came-from-the-beach-look!

  3. Tool: Velcro rollers! Now this is not one that I personally would recommend, but it has been tried many times by my best friend! She usually semi-dry's her hair and then puts her hair in rollers overnight; using big sections for a straight, wavy-ish look, and smaller sections for a voluminous-beachy-wavy-awesome look, she takes the section and rollers it under! If you're a bit unsure of the grip of the roller while you sleep, you can a bobby pin to secure it in place! It looks really nice, but the only thing is that it's not very comfortable to sleep on (If anyone has a good suggestion of how to do this method, and still sleep comfortably, then please comment how!) Some good rollers are the Superdrug Self Stick Rollers, in small or large!

Products: For a way to keep those waves smooth in the morning, I recommend a hair serum, Tresemmé Salon Smooth Serum is a good one! Also, it's a good idea to hair-spray your hair when it's in the rollers, for extra hold and style!

So there we have it! PHEW that was a big post! I really hope you enjoyed it, and if you tried, or like me, really like any these methods, let me know! Also, what methods do you use? Let me know!!!!

Battle of the Brows

I've always been quite picky with brow products, and this is because I have this fear that if my brows are coloured in too dark, I look just a tad manly....

But alas! I have found some brow tamers and definers that stay well clear of that dilemma! And here they are! My top three brow products:

1- M.A.C Eyebrow crayon in 'Lingering' - This was actually the first brow product I properly purchased and used every day, and it's good, like really good! It's a crayon which means that it glides on smoothly and looks more natural! The colour 'Lingering' is just the perfect colour for my brows and I really love how natural it actually looks! This is most definitely my favourite out the three, sadly mine has run out now but I will most certainly be re-purchasing it!  Price: £13

2- MUA Pro-Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit - I seriously love MUA, I think their products are so underrated! They retail at such amazing prices, yet still have to most amazing quality, and this eyebrow kit is not exception.... I believe this comes in a 'one palette caters for all brow colours' shade range, it has a dark brown powder, and more dark blonde one, an under-brow highlight, eyebrow wax, an angled brush, and some tweezers (which aren't good at all, but that's to be expected I suppose) If used lightly the dark brown is the perfect colour! I love this kit! It looks really nice and natural, and result's in nice, defined brows! Not to mention that it only cost £3.50(!!) Oohh MUA ....

3- Clinique Instant Lift for Brows Crayon in 'Soft Brown' - This again is a crayon which means it looks nice and natural, it is perhaps a bit too dark for my brows, but if applied lightly and brushed through with a spoolie (I had to Google this word, because I had a mind blank and couldn't remember what it was/if it even existed....) it looks just right! This crayon comes in three colour, 'Soft Blonde', 'Soft Brown' and 'Deep Brown' and retails at £15.00!

To hold my brows in place all day I like to use either the MUA clear mascara, which I think is £1 - bargain! Or the wax that comes in the MUA Brow Kit! Both are great to use and keep my brows tamed all day!

So there we go! The good ole' brow products! Do you guys love any of these products as well? Let me know!

I take it back!

Okay so I take it back! A while ago I made a post called, 'My Let Down Products' in which the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer was mentioned, I just didn't rate at the time, it was too dry, the shade I had chosen was far too light and yeah, it was just a no from me....

BUT I recently was re-enticed to purchase this product again when there was a deal on that all Collection products were all priced under £4(!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!) So I thought 'oohh go on then!' and purchased it in shade 3, which is called 'medium'. And I love it now! Really great coverage, really not too dry at all - all I need to do is moisturise before- and just an awesome product!

I might even get it in shade 4 next time as I feel that will suit my skin tone even better (shade 3 is great too but a little too light still, but that's okay because that way it does as lovely job of not only hiding my under eye bags, but brightening them too, without looking weird!) So it's fair to say this little beauty is back in my everyday make-up products now!

Just a small post to rave about this concealer! I haven't posted recently because I'm a top procrastinator meaning I am now practically drowning in english coursework.... But I'm definitely going to do a big post soon!

Have you tried this concealer and loved it or hated it too?

xx

M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Gold Deposit'

I have to admit that every time i entered a M.A.C store, this was the product i ran over to first and swatched, every time. And then one day i just got too tempted into it, and of course ended up buying it, now i am a bit of a sparkle lover, and i think that combined with the beautiful gold colour and my obsession with being tanned, just pushed me to buy it!

I spoke to the make-up artist there and she explained that i should use this as a highlighter and that i should be really gentle and use it sparingly as she said it was so gold, and if you use too much, you may well end up looking a like a golden nugget! She didn't say exactly that, but that's the message i got....

And it really is gold, really really gold, but a nice gold.... I use this across the tops of my cheekbones to give me that popp of bronze gold niceness, but the great thing about this product is that because it is part of the Mineralize range, you can use it as an eyeshadow and inner corner highlighter too! Two swirls and a tap of your brush is enough to get the perfect amount per cheekbone, and I think it just has this beautiful finish to it! At £22 it is on the more expensive side of highlighters, but I can tall that it is going to last a longggg time!

Bourjois Bronzing BB Creme!

I've always been quite anxious of putting anything that implies the fake tan kinda thing on my face, i don't really know why, but it might kjust be a fear of it all going wrong and me looking stupid! Don't get me wrong, i've seen loads of people with amazing results from fake tan, but for some reason i just have this thing with it. Even though this is not a fake tan, i was still quite anxious about putting it on for the first time, as i didn't really know what it would turn out like! But i still went ahead and bought it! And gee, i'm glad i did!

I purchased this because in the winter i swear every bit of pigment in my skin just fades, i'm mixed race, but in the winter you would just not be able to tell at all, i do't know why, it just happens, so, having trying to think ahead of the winter game, i thought this looked like a good option! As well as some Xen Tan, which I think I am going to have to try soon, despite the price tag!

I had never really tried anything like this before, so i had to experiment a bit to find out which method looked best! The first method i tried was to just put this on as a kind of primer before my foundation, however i felt that was not a good method at all and it just made my complextion look blotchy, so after kind of just shying away from it for a bit, i decided to try the method of mixing it with my foundation, and i think this is the best way to do it! I usually use about two small pumps mixed with my usuall amount of foundation.

I really really like this BB Creme, it gives me a lovely bronzed look, and i think it looks really natural; not mention it's lasting power is really brilliant, it's still there at the end of the day, and there is most defiantly a noticeable change in colour when I take my make-up off! I think I am 100% going to keep on using this through out the winter! No more pale-looking in the winter for me! (Hopefully!)

What do you think of this BB Creme? Have you tried it and liked it too? xx

The time Revlon let me down....

Quite an annoyed/sad post this one, I have to say that I am a huge Revlon fan, I love pretty much everything they make, their foundations, mascaras, nail polishes, and most of all, their lipsticks! So when Revlon came out with their new Colourstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick, their was no exception for wanting to, and ultimately purchasing it, but I have to say that this lipstick is just no good. (Sad face)

What's the problem? It just drys the hell out of your lips, like really badly, I put this on out of excitement when I first purchased it on the bus on the way home, so I didn't really see what it really looked like until about 20-30 minutes after putting it on when I arrived home, and it just looked bad.

What I found the worst was that it just looked so dry, literally to the point that it was actually cracking on my lips, and it wasn't just me that has been disappointed with it, both my mum and good friend purchased these too and both said exactly the same..

I have tried ways of getting around the cracking and dryness, such as applying lip balm both before and after I apply the lipstick, but none of these seem to stop it, and if anything the lipstick just disappeared faster when I did this! I understand that this lipstick is meant to be long lasting and suede/matte, but this just takes it to whole new level!

Overall it's just such a shame that this lipstick is such a let down, I purchased it in the colour 'It Girl' and it's such an amazing colour, I love it so much I actually just wanted to carry on wearing it for that reason alone.

However, this is just what my mum, friend and myself found, for some people it could actually be amazing! So let me know, have you guys tried it, and what did you think?

xx

In back to school beauty dewy make-up make-up quick and easy make-up

Quick and easy 'back to school' make-up!

Having gone back to Sixth Form on Thursday I have been reminded that I can no longer spend the morning procrastanating anymore, even though I do still manage to somehow fit that in, which consequently means I cannot take my sweet time with my make-up anymore! So I'm having to adapt to a shorter time frame in which to do my make-up! Not only this but I'm having to change my products used too! As my skin gets soo much more drier and my under circles that bit more worse, all due to lack of sleep! So here's what I've done to keep my skin looking bright and the time it takes down!

1- Firstly I always like to start with a nice brightening, anti-fatigue concealer! For this, I turn to my trusty Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, not only because adds that nice glow to the eyes, but also because it's quick to apply and doesn't need that much working in! Yay!

2- I then like to pair this with a similarly anti-fatigue/dewy foundation, and yes I still am stuck in a rut with my Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation, however I recently purchased the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, which I am also loving, not as much as Revlon, but that's to be expected! However both have a lovely 'I've had 10 hours sleep' effect on the skin! Something I'm gonna be needing....

3 - Base done, it's time for the brows! If I'm really rushed for time, I'll go in with the clear mascara just to give them that extra definition and to hold them in place! If I'm all good on the time front, I'll turn to my trusty M.A.C Eyebrow Crayon in 'Lingering', topped of with the clear mascara, mine is from MUA, for £1!

4- After that it's time for the eyes! I love to use the MUA Heaven and Earth Eyeshadow Palette, a sweep of the peachy pink colour over the lid, and in the tear duct area, and then a touch of the taupe colour in the crease, and voila! A nice bright but subtle eye! Perfect! Can we also talk about the fact that palette only costs £4!?!?!?!?!?!?!

5- Now onto the lashes! For me, mascara is a make-up staple, and I mean lashings of it, I just don't think a make-up look is complete without it! Now I'm late on the bandwagon with this, but I recently purchased Benefits 'They're Real!' Mascara, and praise The Lord! This mascara is amazing!! Nice long, thick lashes, and we're nearly done!

6- Next up is a nice highlighter or bronzer for the cheeks! My current cheek love is the M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit, a gorgeous gold/bronze colour which will cover bronzer and highlighter all in one! However if you're looking for a more English Rose look, then a pretty peach or pink blusher does the job too! And if you're all about that tanned look then the MUA Bronzed Perfection Bronzer is great too!

7- Last, but certainly not least is of course lipstick! For a more subtle look you could use a nice peachy nude colour, perhaps the Revlon Lip Butter Lipstick in Peach Parfait, or for something a little brighter, you could always give Bourjois' Colour Boost Lipstick in Peach on The Beach a try!

And there we have it! A nice, quick, but fresh, bright and anti-fatigue make-up look! I hope you like my suggestions! Of course this is just what i find to work! So, do you guys have any tips! Seeing as I am a prize 1 procrastinator, every tip will help!

xx

Top 5 Lip Products!

I think out of all make up products, lipsticks are my most purchased and most worn! I'm forever tempted into buying them because of the colours, the packaging, the formulas, the finishes...... The list goes on!  So I thought why not pick my all time favourite ones! And alas! Here they are.......

Revlon Lip Butters- I love these soooooo much! I love the fact that although they are really creamy and nourishing, that does not compromise the colour pay off at all! And you still get this amazing sheen of colour, not too much, but just enough so that I can still wear the red shade, named Candy Apple, in the day time! They have a lot of amazing shades available and for £7.99 each I think they are a steal!

Rimmel Appocalips Lip Laquers- Super glossy, super pigmented (like really) and super pretty! I love the pigmentation of these laquers, the colour is so strong, I'm pretty sure even the nude one is like, boom. But non the less I still love them, and teamed with a nice neutral, light eye, they are most certainly day time wearable!

Revlon Superlusterous Matte Lipstick- I just really like Revlon Lipsticks....... And these are no exceptions! They do have a lovely matte finish, but they are still super moisturising on the lips as well - perfect!

No.7 Stay Perfect Lipstick- I really, really love the finish of this lipstick, it's quite the same as the Revlon Superlusterous, but more, soft? It has such a beautiful feel to it, and the colour is lovely too! Nice and strong! Perfect for those winter days when your lips are feeling a bit dry, and you just need that pop of colour to brighten the day! At £9.50 for each one, they're a little more expensive, but totally worth the money, not to mention at the moment you can buy one and get the second half price in Boots! Yaaayyyy!

Maybelline Babylips- I purchased these on a whim and when they were on offer for 3 for 2! So I just jumped straight in and purchased 3 of them! Two are colour tinted, and one mint flavoured, all three moisturise, and all 3 are a-mazing! The tinted ones give off just the right amount colour for a pretty au natural look!

Well there we have it! My top 5 Lipsticks/products!

What are yours? Do we have any in common? x

Jimmy Choo Limited Edition EDT

Why hello summer/rest of my life smell........

Being a big fan of the original Jimmy Choo fragrance, it was no surprise that when stumbled across at the Duty Free at the channel tunnel that I was going to love it! After debating about it throughout my holiday, and being gutted when it was sold out on my way back, I hunted around on the Internet for prices, sizes, etc, and eventually settled for the 60ml EDT from Superdrug!

Jimmy Choo Exotic is a flanker of the original Jimmy Choo fragranced which was released in 2011, with hints of black current sorbet, zesty grapefruit, tiger orchid and passion flower, this fragrance smells absolutely amazing! So sophisticated but fresh and inviting at the same time!

This Fragrance is available in 100ml, which retails for around £58.00 for that amount, or alternatively from £43 for the 60ml.

The only down side to this fragrance? That it's EDT and not EDP, I usually prefer a purer and stronger smell, but regardless this still smells darn good and has good staying power!

The last? That it's Limited Edition, be quick and get it now! It's not one you want to miss, I'm already close to ordering a second bottle for the day it's discontinued!

Kick Ass 2 Review!

Rejoice! Hit Girl, Kick Ass, and the former Red Mist, now known as the Mother Fucker (language, sorry) are back!

After the success of the first Kick Ass movie, I was excitedly awaiting the release of number two! It was one of those movies where after I finished watching I felt a sequel was a good idea, you know with some movies you just think 'okay that was really good, but it it really doesn't need a sequel' and others you're like 'that was so good, that needs a sequel, there's so much more to know/happen!', well yeah, Kick Ass was one of those.

Me and my best friend went to go and see it today, it was released today and is, I'm sure, in pretty much all cinemas in the UK, and I have to say I was not disappointed! Christopher Mintz-Plasse's character was still so funny, down to his costume (AKA a jazzed up version of his mother's dominatrix's costume) and his over all persona. Hit Girl is still fierce, edgy and powerful, (go girl) and Kick Ass is still his adorable ,and VERY toned now, self!

There are many new characters, including a hench Russian woman named Mother Russia and a WWE fighter named Black Death, that are a part of Mother Fucker's group of super villains, and characters such as Night Bitch, Colonel Stars and Stripes and his companion dog Sophia, who are part of the Super Hero group Kick Ass joins named Justice Forever. Also, Turk from scrubs is in it, well Donald Faison, that alone is enough of reason to see it. His character is awesome.

The plot is based along Mother Fucker's revenge on Kick Ass for killing his father, Hit Girls discovery of who she is, and Kick Ass' search to find a group of Super Hero's to form a team with. That's all I'll say for now, because I don't want to ruin anything! ONE THING I WILL SAY THOUGH IS THAT THE DOG DOES NOT DIE, IT'S OK.

Now although the first Kick Ass film did have it's sad moments, it was still largely comedic. With Kick Ass 2 I found it was a lot more graphic, and there were a lot more sad moments! Not to mention the amount of shocking deaths, people you just do not expect to die, including one big one that made me sad and shocked the hell out of me! But it all adds to the depth and quality of the plot!

Over all a very good movie that I highly recommend seeing!

Four stars!

What did you guys think of it? I know it got a lot of stick from the press, but I really did like it!

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser Review!

Back from holiday and with a new well-loved edition to my shower routine!

I literally prayed and sang to the heavens when this product was released, why? Because I am sooo lazy with moisturising (as mentioned in my previous post)! It's the biggest chore for me, even though I like having soft skin!

So yeah, when this came out I celebrated big time because now I could just do it in the shower, and get it all over and done with! Yes, I'm lazy..

So the good thing about this product is that it's so quick and easy to use, it's not to be confused with a shower gel, you still have to wash using your everyday scrub of choice, but after you're finished washing that off, you simply just get this moisturiser, apply where ever and simply wash it off, ta-dah, no standing there having to wait for it to sink in or having to wait 5 minutes before washing it off, you just go ahead and do it straight away! Although i do like to give it 2 minutes personally (If i'm not rushing, which is not very often)

And the even better thing about this product is (and quite obviously) that it actually works(!), I was a little dubious at first because it just seemed too good to be true, but after using it for this first time, as soon as I was dry I could feel my skin was soft and smooth, and there were no usual tell-tale signs of dry skin anywhere!

Currently at £3.39 for 400ml online at Superdrug, the price is quite good! I'd say you get good use out of it, I've had mine (400ml) for just coming up to about two weeks now, and having used it nearly everyday, still have a good just under 1/2 a bottle left! Available in two formulas, one for dry skin, which comes in a blue bottle, and one for normal skin, which comes in a white bottle, no-ones left out, I have the white bottle, and although I usually have dry-ish skin, I've coped fine.

I'd say the only let down about this product for me is the smell, now don't get me wrong, it smells good, but with a supposed 'Sea Minerals' scent, I just wish the smell would transfer onto the skin more, as I can't really smell it very strongly after using it! This downfall isn't major, unless your someone who really likes a strongly fragranced moisturiser, and because Nivea does focus on very skin friendly, dermatologically tested products, I suppose too much fragrance would be a big no no for them! Don't worry though, a spritz of perfume and you'll be fine!

Overall I really love this product, and I definitely see myself re-purchasing it in the future, thank you Nivea!

My Summer Essentials!

Summer time is here! Even if in the UK it is on and off at the moment! For me, and for a lot people, the beginning of summer signals the start of different beauty products being used and new essentials taking the places of old ones. So here are my summer essentials!

1- A good deodorant - The slightly more icky side of beauty! But we all have to face the facts, unless you are blessed with some kind of non-sweat ability, summer is hot, and hot means sweat! So everyone needs that good solid deodorant that we can rely on, and my go to sweat-stopper of choice is Garnier Mineral Ultra Dry Antiperspirant, now this comes in a blue themed bottle and a pink themed bottle, both smell great, but my preference lies with the blue themed. This deodorant is brilliant! It keeps me anti-sweaty throughout the day, and the smell really sticks - great!

2- A good sun cream- This really is quite an obvious one! I really enjoy using this one from Vichy, it's factor 50+ so I usually use this when i go on holiday, and also apply it to my face, although its not specifically just for the face and is mainly a body sun cream, my skin is quite dry so it's not too thick and oily for me! Also Vichy does have a sun cream specifically made just for the face, perhaps one for oilier skin types! For hot days in the UK I usually stick to a trusty factor 20 or 25 Nivea sun cream!

3- A nice, light moisturizer- I have to admit that I am so lazy with moisturizing after showering, it really takes a lot of motivation for me to start what I look at as a chore! So when I moisturize and the consistency is so thick, creamy, and sticky I still feel like it's been freshly applied an hour after standing in front of a fan in a desperate attempt to make it dry - I am well and truly put off! But then I discovered the Intensive 7 Days Soothing Gel Moisturizer by Garnier that is a gel-based formula (making it super absorbent, super fast) and lasts for an apparent 7 days! And all is good, no sticky feeling and no need to moisturize every day! Yayy!

4- A light foundation, and mattifying powder- Sunny weather + sweat = Shine, I must say, I don't really suffer from oily skin, but recently I have noticed that my nose is starting to get shiny as the day goes by! But I don't want to use a mattifying  foundation as this will not be compatible with the dry skin on the rest of my face! So I have created a dynamic duo that boosts my skins moisture, is lightweight and still keeps the shine at bay! That duo being my all time favorite foundation AKA Revlon Nearly Naked, and Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder! If you have oily skin, try replacing the Revlon Nearly Naked with something like Revlon's Photoready foundation, teamed with the powder!

5- An SPF lip balm- My lips get really dry in the sun, so I have made it my mission to protect them more from the rays! Usually I am sneaky and hope that the lipstick I am wearing will serve as a suitable protector, but from now on Nivea's SPF balm has earned it's place in my make-up routine, I will apply it 5 minutes before my lipstick to let it take effect!

6- A summer scent- This is more one that I am planning to add to my perfume shelf soon! To be honest most of my perfumes are quite- heavy? Not so fresh smelly, more sweet(ish), with the likes of Beyonce's Heat Rush along with Jimmy Choo, there's nothing fresh for me to sport this summer- this needs to change! - any suggestions? I'm eyeing up the Jo Malone Fragrances....

Hope you have enjoyed this! What are your summer essentials?

My 'let down' products! :(

Here are the culprits all lined up! Now usually before i buy an expensive product i do quite a bit of research into it, reading other reviews, watching videos on them etc, but when it comes to drug store products i usually just take a chance, so i can review and write my first impressions on here! (And also because i get tempted FAR to easily in the shops!). So with all this taken into account it's no surprise to find that there are some purchases that have left me disappointed!

1-  Maybelline's 'The Rocket' Mascara- When i purchased this mascara, my intention was actually to purchase 'The Falsies' mascara by Maybelline, but because this was on sale i couldn't say no! However i just don't like this mascara at all, i don't like the brush, as i feel it takes too much mascara with it, and the formula itself i don't like either, when i wore this it crumbled and left black around my bottom lashes- a big no for me!

2- Collection Illuminating touch concealer- After trying the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer and loving it, i decided to go with something a little more brightening and decided on this! However, this formula is simply too drying and matte for my dry skin! I also purchased this a shade too light :(

3- Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation- I purchased this back when it was first released and was really looking forward to using it, unfortunately my skin reacted to it leaving me with lots of tiny spots! So sadly i couldn't continue using it, i'm thinking of trying out the healthy mix serum soon, so i will update you on that and see how skin liked it too!

4- Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect in Gypsy Red- The problem with this one was that it was too drying for my lips and that the colours just didn't suit me at all! I also think that the colours didn't blend together well enough and they were too bright and non-natural looking for my liking! A shame as i love Max Factor and usually love all their products!

I hope you've enjoyed this post! Have you had the same problem with any of these products?

June Favorites!

So it's now July which means only one thing! June favorites!

Here are the beauty products I have been loving throughout June!

  1. The Barry M 'Gel' Nail Polishes and Sally Hansen 'Nailgrowth Miracle'

I first purchased one of these nail polishes in the shade 'Lychee', it is such a beautiful nude colour with a hint of pink and it's perfect for a simple and sophisticated look! I then purchased a second one in the colour 'Satsuma' after seeing one of my friends wearing it! Again this is such a nice colour and it's perfect for a pop of colour on your nails, and looks really nice and summery, i love these gel nail polishes, they last a lot longer and make my nails feel strong at the same time!

As well as these two nail polishes i also have been loving the Sally Hansen 'Nailgrowth Miracle' polish which is a clear formula that helps to strengthen the nails, you can use this as a base-coat or just on it's own! The nail polish is great and after having brittle nails for sooooo long, it's really strengthened my nails and helped them to grow a lot longer too!

2- Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 'Kiss Me Coral'

Here is an unedited swatch for you, so you can see the colour better!

I think i have a little bit of an obsession with the colour orange at the moment! Orange clothes, lipsticks, blushers, and i'm eyeing up an orange handbag from Topshop too! But anyway! This lipstick is such a lovely colour, a really vibrant coral/orange, so for those of you that like a more toned down shade this might not be one for you! This lipstick is super creamy and moisturizing, and just generally amazing for the summer!

3- The Max Factor 'Wild Mega Volume' Mascara

Max Factor has always been my 'go to' brand for mascaras, so when i saw that they had a new one out, AND it was on promotion in Superdrug for only £4.99 (!!!!!) i just had to get it! I've used this a few times now and really like it, it's not as good as their 'false lash effect' one, but i don't think anything ever will be! it gives my lashes lovely volume and is non-clumpy at the same time! - Perfect!

4- Pro:Voke 'Touch of Silver Twice a Week Brightening Shampoo' And John Frieda 'Go Blonder' conditioner

I recently ombred my hair, but because my hair was a really dark brown, it obviously didn't go blonde, it went more of a caramel-brown colour, which i was happy with, to be honest i was dubious as to whether the L'Oreal 'Wilde Ombre Kit' would even lighten my hair that much in the first place, as it seemed near impossible to do the other times i had tried to go even just a shade lighter! But it succeeded very well and looks natural but still noticeable! I was going to dye it over once more, but decided against it as I didn't want to damage my hair any more, so instead i bought these two products, the Pro:Voke shampoo takes out the brassy tones in the colour, and the John Frieda lightens your hair gradually, and i have to say both products have really made a difference! My hair is at least two shades lighter than what it was, and not any more damaged! Yay!

5- Rimmel 'Stay Matte' powder

I bought this after hearing Tanya Burr talk about it a lot! And i'm very glad i did! This is brilliant to help keep your make-up in place and just make sure your skin doesn't get too greasy through out the day! I purchased mine in 'Transparent' and it's a great universal shade!

6- Sleek Contour Kit in 'Fair' and bareMinerals Radiance powder in 'Pure'

I have already written reviews about both of these products, so i'll keep it short! All I have to say is that i am still loving these products a lot! Both amazing colours and great staying power too!

That's it for my June favorites! Hope you enjoyed! What are yours?

xx

bareMinerals Radiance Powder in 'Pure' review

The Facts:

Price: £19.00

Where from: Debenhams, or any bareMinerals counter.

Colours Available: 6, Rose, Clear, Warm, Pure, Bare, Flawless

What the website says (Debenhams):
When they say youth is wasted on the young, they're definitely talking about skin. Luckily, with bareMinerals Clear Radiance, you can recapture the fresh, dewy look you had as a toddler. Clear Radiance gives your skin a soft, sheer luster that brings out your natural luminosity and takes years off your look.

I was on the hunt for a highlighter for a while when I purchased this product, I knew I wanted a powder one, but was still tempted by the likes of Benefit's Watts Up highlighter, a creamy one, or even something like the Vanilla Pigment from M.A.C! But in the end I purchased this one, after doing some research and also being tempted with the promise of 10% off!

Now I have to admit this was a bit of a rushed buy, the 10% was running out soon, and there are quite a lot of colours to choose from as well! Judging by the look of the one named 'Pure' on the website I went with that, and I'm really glad I did!

I was a little put off by the colour when it arrived, as it looked darker and more like a bronzer! However I'm actually really happy that I picked this colour, it's such  a beautiful bronze gold colour, and I genuinely think that this will be perfect for any skin tone!

I use this on my cheek bones instead of a blusher, apply it with the Real Techniques Blush Brush and it just gives the skin such a healthy, dewy finish that reflects light perfectly but also gives you this healthy bronzed glow as well! I really do think that all you need to use with this is foundation, concealer, mascara and some lipstick, no blush, no bronzer or contour powder, it pretty much does all that for you, as the light-reflecting pigments bring out your cheekbones and define the face too.

Any cons? No! Love it? Yes! Will I re-purchase? Yes!

Hope this was helpful! Let me know what you guys think!

xx
